I see and I am seen

The action «I see and I am seen» has been held in Ukraine for four years. The project is carried out in cooperation with the Patrol Police of Ukraine. This is an educational and informational project of rules of conduct on the roads. An initiative is aimed to reduce the number of road accidents among rural primary school pupils by placing reflective stickers on clothing or school bags.

Reflective clothing items have not yet become a mandatory requirement for Ukrainian pedestrians. According to Norwegian researchers, reflective elements on clothing help reduce the number of accidents involving pedestrians at night-time by 30-70 percent, actually by 15 percent. According to statistics reflective elements are widely used is in Norway, Germany and Sweden.

The representatives of patrol police  inform 1-4 form pupils about the importance of reflective elements. Children are distributed “fire-flies”, given lectures,shown short films about the rules of behavior on the road  with demonstration of  basic advantages of the use of means of allocation on the road at nighttime.

In 2018 11 regions took part in the action: Ternopil, Sumy, Khmelnytsky, Luhansk, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Transcarphation, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad and Volyn. The aim is to explain children the rules of safe movement on the streets, including night-time. In 2019 the action is planned for October.
